L&T Technology Services Ltd (LTTS) will establish a cybersecurity and cybercrime prevention hub for the Maharashtra government to combat cybercrime occurrences and facilitate investigations, according to the business.
In September 2023, the Maharashtra cabinet authorized a ₹837-crore (approximately $100 million) project to combat cybercrime in the state.
Under a $100-million agreement with the Maharashtra State Cyber Department, LTTS will be tasked with developing a cybersecurity system for the state, in collaboration with KPMG Assurance and Consulting Services LLP, who will serve as the forensics partner.
The company emphasized that this initiative expands LTTS’s dedication to creating secure, digitally interconnected smart, and safe cities by offering top-tier cybersecurity and digital forensics solutions streamlined into a cohesive framework. They highlighted that the project will harness the capabilities of artificial intelligence (AI) and digital forensic tools to effectively combat online threats.
As part of the program, both a digital threat analytics center and a center of excellence will be established to provide forensics teams with a comprehensive suite of tools. These tools will include a deepfake detection system, mobile malware forensics capabilities, support for object detection in cryptocurrency and blockchain investigations, drone and social media forensics, image enhancement technologies, voice analysis laboratories, and CCTV acquisition resources.
As outlined by the company, within the project, a Central Emergency Response Team (CERT) will be responsible for promptly addressing cyber incidents. This team will utilize various tools including data breach detection mechanisms, dark net data collection techniques, and malware analysis systems. Additionally, a security operations center will be set up to safeguard critical infrastructure.

He underscored the increasing importance of cybersecurity and emphasized the necessity to invest in advanced digital safeguard platforms and tools for the betterment of society.
