Bank holiday on May 1st: Banks in multiple states will be closed on May 1 in observance of Maharashtra Day, which commemorates the creation of the Maharashtra state in India. In several states, banks observe May Day, which falls on May 1, as Labour Day. Honoring the efforts of laborers and the labor movement is the focus of this day. In numerous countries, including India, banks are closed on May 1 in observance of Labour Day or International Workers’ Day. Labour Day is celebrated in India with various names across different states. In Hindi, it is referred to as Kamgar Din; in Kannada, it is known as Karmikara Dinacharane; in Telugu, it is celebrated as Karmika Dinotsavam; in Marathi, it is called Kamgar Divas; in Tamil, it is known as Uzhaipalar Dhinam; in Malayalam, it is recognized as Thozhilaali Dinam, and in Bengali, it is famously referred to as Shromik Dibosh.
