Ratan Tata, an industrialist and the Emeritus Chairman of Tata Sons, stated that Assam will become globally recognized due to Tata’s production of semiconductors there. When Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma visited Chairman N Chandrasekaran and Emeritus Chairman Ratan Tata of Tata Sons, he expressed gratitude to them for establishing the semiconductor factory, the foundation of which was laid last week by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Ratan Tata wrote on X, The investments being made in Assam transform the state in sophisticated cancer care. Today, through collaboration between the state government of Assam and the Tata Group, efforts are underway to establish Assam as a key player in the field of advanced semiconductor technology. This new development will place Assam on the world map. We would like to thank the Chief Minister of Assam, Mr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, for his support and vision in making all of this happen.

Sarma shared X (Twitter)and expressed gratitude to Ratan Tata for his valuable insights, generous hospitality, and, most importantly, his confidence in the #ViksitAssam initiative.

He elaborated further, mentioning that throughout his discussions with the Tata leadership, they reached a mutual agreement to establish a skill development center, to be situated within the confines of the semiconductor facility in Jagiroad. Sarma reiterated, “During our deliberations with the Tata leadership, it was decided to establish a skill development center co-located with the semiconductor facility in Jagiroad.”

Just last week, Prime Minister Narendra Modi conducted a virtual ceremony to inaugurate the groundbreaking for the Tata Group’s “Semiconductor Assembly & Test Facility,” a homegrown project valued at Rs 27,000 crore, situated in Jagiroad within Morigaon district.
